Forsaking the Years of Longing

Forsaking Billionaire 134

Chapter 15 "You brat, what are you saying? I'm being serious here!"

Without looking back, I went straight upstairs to my room. "I'm serious too."

The next day, Jasmine excitedly sent me a video. It was dimly lit, probably filmed secretly in a private club room, and featured the two men who had been making waves with me on the trending topics lately. Her message read:

"Jason totally lost it over the news, haha."

In the video, Jason stormed into the room, kicking the door open with a bang. He grabbed Callan by the collar and punched him square in the face.

"You bastard! How dare you confess to Caroline?"

Callan staggered back from the blow as the sound of gasps filled the room.

"What's the matter, Mr. Parker? You didn't cherish her yourself, and now you can't stand the idea of someone else stepping in?"

Callan didn't seem angry at all. He licked the inside of his cheek, curling his lips into a smirk that was more roguish than I'd ever seen.

"All of Seattle knows Caroline is my woman! Callan, do you have a death wish?"

Bam!

Jason's words earned him a hard punch in the face. Callan rolled up his sleeves, his voice cold and cutting.

"So what? Caroline doesn't acknowledge it. She's a free, living person who can make her own choices. Who are you to treat her like property and slap your name on her? Do you even deserve her?"

"I don't deserve her, but you do? Who

the hell do you think you are, Callan? You're only interested in her now

because you found out she's then et"

Howard family heiress. Let me warn you stay out of our business, or else..."

Jason's threat was cut short by another heavy punch from Callan.

"That still makes me better than you, Jason. At least I don't want it all-eating from one plate while staring at another. You're disgusting to the core." The video ended there, but the two were still fighting furiously.

Headache.

Jasmine texted me, "Now that Jason knows who your father is, he's definitely going to try to win you back. Let's be real-none of the wealthy socialites in Seattle can compare to the status of the

Howard family heiress."

I smiled faintly, feeling nothing at all. "What he thinks has nothing to do with me. It's all in the past, and I don't care about him anymore." But it seems I spoke too soon.

A month later, I returned to Seattle for Jasmine's engagement party.

Her fiancé was one of Jason's friends, a typical spoiled rich kid from the upper class. The two of them couldn't stand each other.

I didn't think their marriage had much promise, but Jasmine didn't seem to care at all.

"It's just a marriage of convenience,"

she said casually. "As long as our families' interests are secured, there's no need to overthink it. We

do our own thing and stay out of et

each other's way. He might be trash, but he's good at making money. I'm just a professional spender waiting to live my life in comfort As long as I don't develop feelings for him, this marriage benefits me too, doesn't it?"
