The air crackled with tension as Cassian and Fenrir's wolves circled each other, their snarls echoing through the dense forest. Aurora stood frozen, her breath catching in her throat as she watched the two Alphas face off.
Cassian's wolf form was lean and powerful, his dark fur bristling as he held his ground. Fenrir, larger and more imposing, let out a guttural growl, his golden eyes fixed on his opponent.
"You're out of your depth, Cassian," Fenrir snarled, his voice low and dangerous. "Step aside, and I'll let your pack walk away unscathed."
Cassian's wolf responded with a deep growl, the sound reverberating through the clearing. He shifted seamlessly back to human form, his expression calm but resolute.
"She's not yours to take," Cassian said, his voice steady. "Aurora has found safety here, and I won't let you drag her back into your chaos."
Fenrir shifted as well, his imposing figure towering over Cassian. "Safety?" he sneered. "She belongs with her mate-with me. Or have you forgotten what it means to honor the bond?"
"The bond you shattered when you abandoned her?" Cassian countered, his words sharp.
Fenrir's jaw tightened, but he didn't respond. Instead, he turned his gaze to Aurora, his expression softening slightly. "Aurora," he said, his voice low and insistent. "You know you don't belong here. Come back with me, and I'll make things right."
Aurora's heart raced as his words washed over her. For a brief moment, she saw the man she had once loved-the one she had thought would stand by her side forever. But the memory of his cold rejection and Arianna's smug smile burned through the illusion. "No," she said firmly, her voice trembling but resolute. "You don't get to decide where I belong. Not anymore."
Fenrir's eyes darkened, and he took a step toward her, but Cassian moved between them, his stance protective.
"She's made her choice," Cassian said, his voice low and dangerous. "Leave."
Fenrir's snarl was immediate, and he lunged without warning. The two Alphas collided with a ferocity that shook the ground, their growls and snarls filling the air.
Aurora stumbled back, her hands clutching her abdomen as Lila pulled her toward the trees. "We need to go," Lila urged, her voice steady but urgent.
Aurora hesitated, her eyes fixed on the clash before her. Cassian and Fenrir were locked in a brutal struggle, their strength and determination evenly matched. Blood and fur blurred in the chaos, but neither wolf yielded an inch.noveldrama
Suddenly, the sound of approaching footsteps broke through the din. Aurora turned to see Nathan and a group of Cassian's wolves rushing into the clearing, their eyes blazing with determination.
"Cassian!" Nathan called out, his voice cutting through the noise.
Fenrir's wolves emerged from the shadows, their snarls answering the challenge. Within moments, the clearing erupted into chaos as the two packs clashed.
Aurora and Lila backed away, the melee growing more intense with every passing second. Aurora's heart pounded as she struggled to stay calm, her mind racing with fear for Cassian and the pack that had taken her in. "Stay close," Lila said, her grip on Aurora's arm firm.
Aurora nodded, her gaze darting between the battling wolves and the darkened forest beyond. She could feel the twins stirring inside her, their movements frantic as if sensing the danger around them. Suddenly, a shadow moved in the corner of her vision, and a familiar voice called out from the trees.
"Well, isn't this a mess?" Arianna stepped into the clearing, her lips curling into a cold smile.
Aurora froze, her blood turning to ice.
Arianna's gaze swept over the scene, her eyes glinting with malice as she took in the chaos. "You always did have a knack for attracting trouble, Aurora," she said, her tone mocking. "What are you doing here?" Aurora demanded, her voice shaking with a mix of fear and anger.
"Finishing what I started," Arianna replied, her smile widening. "Did you really think you could run from this forever? That I wouldn't find you?"
Aurora took a step back, her heart racing. But before she could respond, Cassian's voice rang out over the chaos.
"Aurora, run!"
She hesitated for only a moment before turning and fleeing into the forest, Lila close behind. The sound of the battle faded as they ran, but Aurora knew the danger was far from over.
