The morning air was thick with tension as Cassian prepared his wolves for the preemptive strike. He stood in the training grounds, his voice steady as he issued commands. Nathan and Gideon flanked him, their expressions grim but resolute. "We strike at dusk," Cassian announced. "We'll hit their camp hard and fast. If we weaken them now, it'll buy us time to fortify our defenses."

Gideon nodded but raised an eyebrow. "And what happens if they're waiting for us?"

Cassian's gaze didn't waver. "Then we fight our way out."

Aurora stood at the edge of the grounds, her heart pounding as she listened. She had tried to talk Cassian out of the attack the night before, but his resolve was unshakable.

"You can't change his mind," Iris said softly, appearing beside her. "Once he's decided, that's it."

Aurora glanced at her, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "That doesn't mean he's right."

"Maybe not," Iris replied. "But Cassian knows what's at stake. He won't let this pack fall without a fight."noveldrama

Aurora sighed, her hand unconsciously moving to her stomach. The ache of her growing belly had been constant lately, a quiet reminder of the life she was carrying and the dangers that threatened it.

As the day stretched on, Aurora tried to busy herself with preparations, but her unease only grew. Lila found her in the communal kitchen, where Aurora was absently sorting herbs.

"You're distracted," Lila said gently.

Aurora's shoulders slumped. "I can't shake the feeling that something's going to go wrong."

Lila placed a reassuring hand on her arm. "Cassian is strong, and so is this pack. Trust them to do what needs to be done."

Aurora looked at her mother, the worry in her eyes evident. "And what about when Fenrir comes back? Or worse-what if Magnus gets involved?"

Lila's expression darkened. "Then we face it together. Whatever happens, Aurora, you're not alone."

The words were meant to comfort her, but they only deepened the weight on Aurora's chest.
