My Stand-In Groom Is A Secret Tycoon (Audrey)

Chapter 41

Although Eliza felt a little happier at the idea of being officially added to the Rhodes family, she couldn't shake the frustration.

The thought of Dominic ignoring her completely after seeing Audrey, even when she told him she was pregnant, made Eliza resent Audrey even more.

Eliza muttered, 'If it weren't for that mix-up years ago, I would have been the one to meet Dominic first and be with him! Audrey not only steals my life, but also is the obstacle between me and Dominic. Gritting her teeth, Eliza felt a dark idea creeping into her mind.

Meanwhile, Audrey wasn't in the best mood herself after the livestream ended. Thinking about Fiona's blatant favoritism towards Eliza, she sighed and climbed into bed, trying to get some rest.noveldrama

But no luck, sleep wouldn't come. The longer Audrey lay there, the more awake she felt. Glancing at her phone, she noticed it was already past eleven.

Just as Audrey was about to put her phone down, a notification from Instagram popped up on her screen.

Curious, Audrey opened it and saw it was from someone she'd just added earlier that day. 'Alistair posted on Instagram? Isn't he supposed to be working in the study?' she thought.

Then Audrey tapped the notification, her curiosity piqued.

Alistair's Instagram was unusually minimal, with just one pinned post, a photo of a hand holding a marriage certificate, captioned, [Just married. Here's to forever.]

Audrey's eyes widened. 'Is this for real? She had expected Alistair might keep their sudden marriage a secret for a while, easing his family into the news. But instead, he was putting it out there boldly. When Audrey thought back on the time they'd spent together over the past few days, all her disappointment from Fiona's behavior vanished.

'Now, I've Alistair. I believe he'll always be there for me, Audrey thought. Then she hugged her phone close and rolled onto her back, her happiness impossible to contain.

Alistair's post didn't just catch her attention, but it seemed to send a ripple through his friends' group chat.

[Did I just lose my mind from staying up too late, or is this Alistair's account?]

[Dude, gotta be hacked. Or maybe he lost a dare?]

[Not April Fools, right?]

[Alistair, this isn't cool. How do you get married without letting us in on the wedding?]

[There's no way that's real! I'd bet my last dollar this is photoshopped. Does Alistair get married? Yeah, right!]

Logan was reading through the comments with a grin plastered on his face, lounging with one leg crossed over the other as he typed, [You guys are way behind. This is old news.]

Despite the ridiculous amount of couple-talk he'd had to put up with, Logan was thrilled to be the first to hear the scoop. His comment caught everyone's attention, and a flood of replies poured in. [What's going on? Logan, what do you know? Alistair's been in Riverdale too... could this be real?]

Alistair replied, [It's real. Just got the certificate today. No need to be jealous, everyone.]

A wave of disbelief swept through the chat. Alistair had never really humored their teasing, so seeing him respond was a rare sight.

[Is it true? Who's the lucky lady? Did you pull off a fairytale seriously and snag a princess? Whoever she is, she must be extraordinary to keep you interested.]

[No hints whatsoever! Just like you, Alistair, always one for the unexpected. Go with the trends, right?]

Usually, Alistair would have let the teasing roll off him, but tonight he was in a playful mood, responding to each one.

[No royalty involved. She's the girl I've loved for a long time.]

[Had to make it official quickly, and can't risk anyone else swooping in. She's actually more popular than me.]

Alistair stayed close-lipped on Audrey's identity, though, leaving everyone guessing.

Logan watched with amusement as the group buzzed with curiosity, many coming to him for answers. Though he was to flaunt his insider knowledge, he knew Alistair wanted to keep Audrey's identity private. Therefore, all Logan said was Alistair's wife was a Riverdale local. Stunning, smart, and her work ethic's unmatched.

Seeing this, the group chat erupted in collective disbelief.

[The universe is clearly biased. Alistair's already at the top of his game, and now he gets a wife like that? Honestly, where's the fairness in that?]

[I'm booking a ticket first thing. I need to see who this angel is that managed to convince Mr. Hayes to settle down.]

More messages followed, each one funnier than the last.

[Count me in!]

[I'm coming too!]

[Forget commercial flights; I'm clearing my schedule and getting my jet ready. We're going straight to Riverdale. Let's go!]
