The Cherished Wife

Chapter 939

Tania wanted to say something more, but when she saw Zara laughing happily with Brandon in the living room, she held back. "I came here with Brandon just to have a meal. You know that," she said.

Peter looked at Tania, his gaze lingering on her, making her feel uncomfortable. Thankfully, Zara noticed them.

"Mr. Peter, Ms. Tania, why are you still standing there? Is it because you couldn't find Ms. Tania's slippers? I put them in the shoe cab, just as you asked, Mr. Peter. After you mentioned Ms. Tania was back. I even washed them. They're very clean!"

"We found them, Zara!" Tania forced a smile. She quickly put on the slippers and moved past Peter into the living room.

Peter watched her retreating figure for a long moment before finally looking away. There was still time. He believed she would come back one day. He had all the time in the world, so he would wait.

Zara chatted with Brandon for a while. "Brandon, are you hungry? I made lots of tasty food! If you're hungry, we can eat right now."

"Yay!" Brandon patted his round belly. "I'm so hungry. Feed me, Grandma!"

"Oh, of course. I'll feed you," Zara said, smiling warmly.

As Tania watched Brandon interact with Zara, she confirmed that he was still just a child. He seemed to have forgotten what happened a year ago entirely.

Ever since they returned to Brookville, Brandon had been acting like a perfectly normal child around everyone, as if he had not been affected by past events.

However, if that were the case, why did his psychologist always say Brandon's emotional development was impaired? Why did he have so many nightmares every time they returned?

Tania could not be sure anymore. Brandon seemed entirely fine, interacting normally with everyone here, without any signs of trauma or cognitive delay.

"Let's eat," Zara said, guiding Brandon to the dining room.

Peter noticed Tania lost in thought and frowned slightly. "If you're uncomfortable, I... I won't insist on you coming again next time."

Tania snapped out of her thoughts. "What did you say?"

Peter pressed his lips together. "It's nothing," he said, aware that she still felt uneasy around him. "I said if you don't like it here, I won't make you come again next time."

Tania opened her mouth to reply, but seeing Peter turn to leave, she quickly grabbed his hand.

Peter froze, standing rigidly with his

back to her, too wary to turn around. However, Tania sensed his tension, and she loosened her grip slightly. Peter, however, turned to he and took her hand in his.

"Are you giving me hope?" he asked, his voice quiet.

Tania hesitated, then said softly, "I... I have something to discuss with you."

"What is it?" Peter glanced over at Zara and Brandon in the dining room. "Zara, please go ahead and start eating with Brandon. Don't give him anything too spicy."

"Yes, yes, don't worry," Zara grumbled fondly. "Who do you think raised you?"noveldrama

Peter smiled and looked back at Tania. "Go on."

Tania glanced toward the dining room, then suggested, "Let's go to the study."

Peter raised an eyebrow, a little surprised, but he nodded anyway. Tania followed him upstairs, her eyes moving over everything in the house, which looked exactly as it had three years ago. Even the antiques and paintings were where she remembered them to be.

The more she looked around, the more unsettled she felt. Back then, she had left heartbroken, convinced she had severed everything with Peter.

Over the years, memories of him would resurface occasionally, but she would always remind herself that Peter had only ever used and deceived her. Yet seeing everything here preserved just as it had been...
