The pack was tense as the fallout from the ambush rippled through their ranks. Wolves moved quietly, tending to wounds and fortifying defenses, but the air was heavy with unease. Aurora stayed close to Lila, who busied herself organizing supplies in the healer'snoveldrama

quarters.

"You should rest," Lila said, her tone firm but kind.

Aurora shook her head. "I can't. Not with Fenrir still out there. And Cassian-"

"Cassian's alive," Lila interrupted. "And the pack needs you steady, Aurora. You can't protect anyone if you wear yourself down."

Aurora wanted to argue, but the truth in her mother's words silenced her.

By nightfall, Cassian called a meeting in the central hall. The Elders gathered, their expressions grim as Cassian outlined the next steps.

"Fenrir's forces are regrouping," he said, his voice steady despite the tension in the room. "We need to assume they'll strike again—and soon."

One of the Elders, a gray-haired wolf named Maris, frowned. "We've lost too much already. If we keep fighting like this, there won't be anything left to defend."

Cassian's gaze didn't waver. "We don't have a choice. If we let Fenrir gain any more ground, this pack will fall."

Aurora stood at the edge of the room, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. The weight of the conversation pressed down on her, but before she could speak, a runner burst through the doors, his face pale.

"Rogues," he gasped. "They've breached the southern barrier."

The room erupted into motion, wolves shifting and rushing to defend the pack. Cassian barked orders, his voice cutting through the chaos.

"Aurora, stay here," he said firmly as he passed her.

But she didn't listen.

The southern edge of the camp was chaos. Rogues poured through the broken barrier, their howls piercing the night as they clashed with Cassian's wolves. Aurora and Lila moved through the shadows, trying to reach the safe house, but the sheer number of attackers made it nearly impossible.

"Stay close," Lila said, her voice low but steady.

Aurora's heart pounded as she clutched her belly. The twins stirred within her, a reminder of what was at stake.

A rogue appeared from the treeline, his glowing eyes locking onto them. Lila stepped in front of Aurora, her body tense.

"Run," she hissed.
