"I'm not leaving you," Aurora protested, her voice trembling.

Before either could move, the rogue lunged. Lila met him head-on, her movements sharp and precise. She fought with a ferocity that made Aurora's chest tighten with both pride and fear.

But the rogue was relentless. Lila staggered, her breaths coming in sharp gasps. Another rogue emerged from the shadows, his eyes narrowing on Aurora.

"Stay back!" Aurora shouted, her voice breaking.

The rogue sneered, his claws flashing in the moonlight as he advanced. Lila saw him and, with a burst of strength, launched herself at him. She slammed into the rogue, driving him back-but the effort cost her. Aurora's scream echoed through the forest as Lila fell, blood pooling beneath her.

"Mom!" Aurora cried, dropping to her knees beside her.

Lila's breaths were shallow, her hand trembling as she reached for Aurora. "You have to... protect them," she whispered. "Protect yourself."

Her eyes fluttered shut, and Aurora felt her world shatter.

The stress and grief hit her all at once. A sharp, searing pain ripped through her abdomen, and she doubled over, clutching her belly.noveldrama

Cassian fought at the front lines, his movements quick and deadly despite his injuries. Nathan was beside him, their wolves working in tandem to drive the rogues back.

"Alpha!" a scout called out, his voice urgent. "It's Aurora-she's in trouble!"

Cassian's heart dropped. Without hesitation, he broke away from the fight, his mind racing as he sprinted toward the safe house.

When he found her, she was crumpled on the ground beside Lila's lifeless body. Blood stained the earth beneath her, and her face was pale as she gasped for air. "Aurora," he said, his voice trembling as he dropped to his knees beside her.

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with pain. "The twins..."

Cassian's chest tightened. He scooped her into his arms, his voice steady despite the panic rising within him. "Hold on. I'm getting you to the healer."

The healer worked tirelessly through the night, but the outcome was inevitable. When she finally emerged, her expression was grim.

"She's stable," the healer said quietly. "But the twins... we couldn't save them."

Cassian felt the air leave his lungs. He nodded stiffly, his jaw clenched as he stepped into the room.

Aurora lay on the bed, her face turned toward the window. She didn't look at him as he approached, but he sat beside her, his hand covering hers.

"I'm so sorry," he said, his voice breaking.

Aurora didn't respond. Her silence was heavier than words, and it cut deeper than any wound.

The battle was over, but the pack's losses were devastating. Four wolves dead, the barrier destroyed, and morale shattered. Cassian stood in the central grounds, addressing the survivors. "This isn't the end," he said, his voice firm despite the weight in his chest. "We'll rebuild. We'll fortify. And Fenrir will pay for what he's done."

The wolves nodded, their determination clear. But as Cassian looked toward the healer's quarters, where Aurora grieved for her mother and children, he knew the hardest battles were still to come.
